36 minutes and 36 seconds
Tonight is any a good night to start a blog. I could write about so many things but first I guess I should introduce myself and tell you a little bit about who I am and why you should read my blog.
My name is Paige and I am a 26 Year old Canadian. Oh and I run. I run A LOT. I also do other things such as bike, lift weights, do a little bit of yoga, attempt to meditate oh and did I mention that I run.
Running kinda saved my life. I know that is being kinda dramatic but I look back at it now and think how it really did save my life. Let me take you back to a time and a place of about 5 years ago. It was the end of august I was planning a wedding at the time and trying to find my calling in life. (Let me say that right now I am not married and well have found my calling. I just hate it when people don't know an ending it makes me all anxious inside.) I think there were a number of reasons why I decided to give running a go; the main one being I wanted to lose some weight. At that point I was 220lbs and at only 5'3" I was overweight. I had always been the bigger girl at every point in my life and was not healthy in the slightest. I just like almost every other bride to be wanted to look great on her wedding day. Another reason is that I was very depressed and needed something to help me feel better. I thought exercise but I wasn't going to pay for the gym plus I was wayyy to self conscious about going into a place like that.
So I started running, I found that races were a thing and lots of people did them so I signed up for a 5k in October and decided I was going to train for it. So I did. On October 21, 2013 at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon I ran my first race. That story will be for another blog but it changed my life and I can tell you I was hooked. I was an addict to the running community. I wanted to learn everything about these people, all the races and all the running things. It was 36 minutes and 36 seconds that changed my life in the best way possible.
Eventually I ran a half marathon a year later at the same race and decided the next year I would go all the way. There are things going on in between the lines here but I decided that if I wanted to actually run a full marathon I would have to change my diet and take running more seriously. I did I lost a ton of weight ( to date 90lbs) and ran my First full marathon in 2015.
With making those changes I also decided to go back to school and get a Diploma in Fitness and Health promotion. I graduated from Georgian College last year on the Dean's list and am now a certified personal trainer and fitness instructor.
There are Four things I think we all need to remember 1. Love yourself 2. It takes time (Patience) 3. Just Breathe 4. Run and never give up
This blog is all about my adventures in running and everything else fitness.
